Wings Out of Africa Display TeamNew for the 2009 season, one of our display teams will involve a flying display of all African species. We believe this to be the only display team in the UK that flies all African species of birds of prey at Outside Events. The birds will vary at each event but will be a selection from: a White-headed Vulture, a White-backed Vulture, a pair of Bateleurs, an African Fish Eagle and a Lanner Falcon. An extensive commentary will be given throughout the displays about the birds themselves, their diet, habitat and habits in the wild and a big part will involve promoting the awareness of the need for conservation of these birds and their habitats.
Many species of Vulture throughout the world are in danger of extinction and are often regarded as unclean and ugly. We will use our vultures to promote awareness of these magnificent birds. There are 68 recognised species of eagle split into 4 main groups. As part of the Africa display we have birds from three of these groups: A Tawny Eagle (booted eagle group that specialise mostly in catching mammals), a pair of Bateleurs (snake-catching eagle group) and an African Fish Eagle (fish catching specialist group).
We attend Living Hertiage's Country shows with these birds throughout the year. See their Country Show Website for more details about their shows.
