Great Horned Owl (Bubo virginianus)
In the wildOrigin: Throughout the North and Central Americas and parts of South America.
Diet: Smaller mammals (up to size of rabbit or hare) and birds (up to size of ducks, geese), also reptiles, amphibians and insects. Habitat: Semi-open with trees, groves, open woodland and shrubs. Near human settlements and in larger parks. Absent from heavy or primary rainforest.
