We can bring along a selection of birds of prey into your school for the children to see up close and we even fly some of them indoors.
We bring along some native species of birds of prey from a selection of: Little Owl, Long-eared Owl, Kestrel, Peregrine Falcon and Golden Eagle.
Also we bring a few species of raptors from around the world, from a selection of: American Kestrel, Bald Eagle, Chaco Owl, Harris Hawk, Spectacled Owl and various species of Eagle Owls.
As we house over 80 birds of prey, if you have any specific requirements then please contact us to discuss them.
A usual team of birds for these sessions consists of 5 different species of birds mentioned above. We adapt the content of each session according to the age group. As well as flying the birds we talk about the physical adaptations of birds of prey and owls, also the habitat, habits and diet of these birds in the wild. These sessions are performed inside (preferably a school hall), so we never have to worry about the unpredictable weather!
We now have a conservation and information section on-line which provides more in depth information on birds of prey - click here to see this section

The Sanctuary Learning Centre (Blessed Edward Catholic School, Worcester). Sanctuary have been visiting and visited by Hagley Falconry Centre for the past six years and in the words of the children: "It's fantastic! Amazing! Brilliant! 10/10! Can we go again!". We thoroughly recommend everyone to visit and experience the beauty of these birds of prey in flight, the education, the entertainment and the skill of the dedicated staff. Carry on for ever, Hagley Falconry Centre, we love it! Phil Powell, Sanctuary Associate.
Dear Andy. Thank you very much for bringing the birds into school on 16th June. The children and staff really enjoyed the experience and it tied in well with our History topic on the medieval times. When writing about it afterwards it made me laugh to find one of the children wrote "Andy brought in a cholesterol which is a bird of prey"!! Says a lot about today's world! Kind Regards, Yours sincerely, Victoria Denning, Year 1 Co-ordinator, Hallfield School, Edgbaston.
